What will I experience on
this Express Tour?
These tours may be short but they have been
carefully planned to show you the highlights and well as a few hidden gems that
only we locals know about. A popular feature of this tour is that you will join
a new group of fellow travellers each day making it a great way to meet new
friends. Travel by luxury touring coach from Edinburgh to
Inverness. Rannoch Moor, Glen Coe and
Loch Ness are just some of the many spectacular sights that you'll see
along the way.
Accommodation is included in the price of your
tour and you can choose to stay in either a guest house/B&B or a hotel.
Breakfast is included in the price of your tour. After a restful night’s sleep you’ll be picked
up from your accommodation then travel by air-conditioned mini or midicoach to
explore the Island of Skye.
On return to Inverness there is free time before
boarding your train to Edinburgh (you can choose to return to Glasgow instead,
at no extra cost, by prior arrangement). Standard class train tickets and a seat
reservation are included in the price of this package. The train journey from
Inverness to Edinburgh/Glasgow will be unescorted. If you’ve only got a limited time available then
these tours are a great way to see the best of the Highlands.
How much luggage can
There are no restrictions on the amount
of luggage that you can bring on this tour. Please bear in mind that luggage
storage on the train is limited and you may be required to lift your case onto
a shelf unaided.
What meals are
A full Scottish breakfast is included on
day 2. This hearty meal consists of fruit juice; a choice of cereal; bakery
basket; cooked items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and,
maybe, a taste of haggis! plus tea or coffee. Vegetarian and lighter
Continental options are always available. Lunch and dinner are not included in
the price. During the touring day there will be a stop where you can enjoy
lunch in a local pub or restaurant.
What kind of
accommodation do you use?
We offer lodgings that have been
specially selected to enhance your touring experience. You can choose between
Guesthouse/B&B or Hotel accommodation:
Guesthouse and B&B. The guesthouses and B&B’s are family run and
offer comfortable accommodation in bedrooms that have en-suite bathrooms, tv,
tea/coffee making facilities and other facilities. Bedding, towels and basic
toiletries are provided. Some guesthouses and B&B’s offer enhanced
facilities such as a resident’s lounge where you can relax with other guests
over coffee. Our guesthouses are a 10/15 minute walk from Inverness City
Hotel. We select comfortable hotels that are city
centre located. They are a minimum of 3 stars with bedrooms featuring en-suite
bathrooms, television, tea and coffee making facilities and other amenities.
All have restaurants offering a selection of Scottish and international dishes
as well as comfortable bars where you can relax and un-wind.
What type of room should I choose?
Selecting the right sleeping
arrangements can be a little bit confusing so here is a description of what you
can expect whether you choose guesthouse/B&B or hotel accommodation:
Single room - this is a room for one person sleeping in a single bed.
Twin room - this is a room for two
people sleeping in two separate beds
Double room - this is a room for two
people sharing one large bed
Family room - this is a room for three people
sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person).
You should note that a family room
(particularly when using hotel accommodation) can be a standard double room
with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed.
All our accommodation, whether you choose Guest House/B&B or Hotel,
features en-suite facilities (the toilet and shower are located in your bedroom
for your exclusive use).
How many people will
be in the group?
On the journey from Edinburgh to
Inverness you will travel on a luxury touring coach seating up to 55
passengers. The excursion to Eilean Donan Castle and the Isle of Skye is
usually operated by a midicoach seating 29 passengers.
Can I return to
Glasgow on this tour?
Yes, you can and there is no extra
charge to do this. If you wish to return to Glasgow then please email your
request to us at email@example.com IMMEDIATELY after you
have made your reservation quoting your booking reference number. We’ll be
happy to make the arrangements for you.
What time will I
arrive back in Edinburgh or Glasgow?
Your train is scheduled to arrive at
Edinburgh Waverley Station at 00:11 hrs (11 minutes past midnight). If you
returning to Glasgow you will arrive at Glasgow (Queen Street) Station at 23:43
hrs. Taxis are available in both Edinburgh and Glasgow for onward travel.
