Select Day:
Day 1 - London - Stratford upon Avon - York
After an early morning departure from London, drive to Stratford-upon-Avon to enjoy a visit to this pretty town on the River Avon.
Discover the fascinating story of William Shakespeare's early years when we visit his birthplace. See the timber-framed building where the World's most famous playwright was born and grew up. Discover the interesting artefacts and memorabilia that tell the story of the great Bard's life.
Head northwards to reach historic York and take a stroll within the ancient city walls to see the topsy-turvy 'Shambles', a delightful street with overhanging timber-framed houses. Some date back to the 14th Century.
Later in the tour, see magnificent York Minster, the largest medieval church in northern Europe.
Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Reception with drinks and dinner.

Day 2 - York - Jedburgh - Edinburgh
Start the day travelling through the ancient Kingdom of Northumbria, then cross the border into Scotland.
Enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling Scottish Border country to see ruined Jedburgh Abbey.
On arrival in Edinburgh, join a Local Expert for a panoramic sightseeing tour. See mighty Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse at opposite ends of the Royal Mile.
Head to bustling Princes Street, passing the Sir Walter Scott Monument, to explore the elegant Georgian New Town. Constructed in the 18th Century, this elegant city area boasts grand squares, extensive gardens and traditional Georgian facades.

Day 3 - Edinburgh - Lake District - Liverpool
Drive to Gretna Green to see the Famous Blacksmiths Shop where eloping couples have got married since 1754.
The picturesque English Lake District is our next treat and during our scenic tour, see the magnificent countryside that has inspired poets and authors. Enjoy free time to explore one of the quaint villages on your own.
Why not take the chance for an optional cruise on Lake Windermere, England's largest lake, followed by a nostalgic steam train ride?
Later arrive in the lively city of Liverpool where, during a panoramic tour, you'll hear the Beatle's story and see the famed Liver building.

Day 4 - Liverpool - Chester - Cardiff
The first stop is the former Roman fortress town of Chester. Walk along part of the city walls, see the Eastgate Clock, cathedral and remains of the Roman Amphitheatre. Look out for the unique black and white shopping arcades known as the 'Rows', some buildings date from the 13th Century.
Cross into Wales and head for the capital city of Cardiff. On arrival, enjoy an orientation tour to see Cardiff Bay, the historic castle and City Hall.

Day 5 - Cardiff - Stonehenge - London
Our last day takes us across the River Severn and back into England.
The stately city of Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and amongst the many attractions are the World-famous Roman Baths. These extraordinarily well-preserved baths are still fed by the thermal mineral springs that sit below the city.
Later move on to Bath Abbey to see the famous sculpture of angels climbing Jacobs ladder.
Our tour ends on a high as we tour across vast Salisbury Plain to visit the prehistoric site of Stonehenge. See the immense monoliths that are believed to be up to 5,000 years old.
After time to reflect on the mysterious significance of this important landmark, rejoin the coach to head into central London and journeys end.

What can I expect on this Premium Escorted Tour?

You’ll travel in a group that is restricted to around 40 fellow travellers.

What type of room should I choose?
There are different bedrooms types to choose from, here is what you can expect:
Single room - one person sleeping in a single bed
Twin room - two people sleeping in two separate beds
Double room - two people sharing one large bed
Family room - three people sharing a room sleeping in one large bed (2 people) and one single bed (1 person)
Please note that a family room can be a standard double room with either a sofa bed or a rollaway bed.
How much luggage can I bring?
You can bring one suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. The maximum weight allowance and luggage dimensions varies by tour so you should check the tour documentation for the luggage policy that applies to your tour.
What meals are included?
