Full Tour Itinerary
Leaving central Edinburgh behind and meandering through the suburbs, you’ll notice how the scenery changes with picturesque landscapes and rolling farmland as we enter East Lothian.
Often referred to as the “Garden of Scotland,” the region’s rich agricultural land is perfect for growing barley, an essential ingredient in whisky production. The area has many quaint villages and historic landmarks, adding to its scenic charm.
Glenkinchie is located in an attractive hollow by the banks of the Kinchie Burn. On arrival, there is time to stroll around the gardens that are planted with local flowers and grasses.
Later, join an expert guide who will explain the history of the distillery and the traditions of whisky making. Then, there is a distillery tour, where you will see the largest pot still in Scotland.
Learn about the Four Corners of Johnnie Walker and some of the aromas that influence the spirit of Glenkinchie.
The tour ends with a tutored tasting of 3 malts and a wee whisky-based cocktail in the Tasting Room.
Enjoy free time to browse the distillery shop before boarding the coach for the return journey to Edinburgh.

A visit to a traditional whisky distillery is a feast for all the senses. After a warm welcome you’ll normally have a short audio/visual presentation on the the history of the distillery and the traditional methods used in the distilling process.
Next is a tour of the distillery where you you will experience all stages of the whisky making process from mashing and fermenting to distilling and maturation.

Will we have time to shop for whisky?
Every distillery we visit has a shop selling their own whisky, plus a range of souvenirs, so we would definitely encourage you to buy your whisky enroute (just make sure you check your country’s rules regarding duty free, as you may well be limited to taking one or two bottles home!). We don’t stop at any other shops along the way.
